Summary[edit]

Description
English: Earthworks at Church Norton The mounds are part of a former Norman castle built in the aftermath of their invasion to protect the entrance to Pagham Harbour and the cathedral and settlement of Selsey itself. Archeological evidence suggests that the small castle was unused by the 11th century and began falling into ruins soon after that. St Wilfrids Chapel is out of picture to the left whilst the fence to the right marks the route of the footpath down to Pagham Harbour.
