Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Eilean Donan Castle One of Scotland's most popular and photographed monuments, best viewed within the context of its surroundings - from a distance. Completed in 1230 by Alexander II, it shared the fate of other castles when it was blown up and utterly destroyed in 1719 by Government forces. Phoenix like it re-emerged between 1912 and 1932 when John Macrae-Gilstrap had it entirely rebuilt. |
