e Loop lines a 336,420-circ. mil motor cars and trailers together. The roller pantographtrolley is used and a dynamotor compressor providespneumatic power for the pantograph operation. Allpantographs can be placed in contact with the trolleywire simultaneously by the motorman operating anair-control switch in the cab of the leading car of thetrain. The lighting and control circuits on the cars arearranged for 600 volts and obtain their power from adynamotor which also operates the air compressor forthe brake system. The cars are equipped with four-motor equipment,each motor being wound for 750 volts but insulated for1500 volts. The motors are connected two in serieswhen operating on 1500-volt circuits, but by means of acommutating switch the connections are changed so thatwhen operating on the 600-volt city lines of the railwaycompany each motor may be thrown directly across thetrolley circuit. The lines throughout are paralleled by two telephonecircuits, one telephone circuit being used exclusivelyfor telephone train dispatching. This circuit is of No.9 hard-drawn copper. The other telephone circuit is thesubstation and emergency circuit, tying together allsubstations and emergency line headquarters. This cir-cuit will be of No. 9 copper-clad steel wire. A telephone selector system is installed with selectivecalling apparatus in the principal stations and withnine telephone sets, one at each siding.
