Liniu Calyx tubular or campanulate, frcqueutly subbilabiatc, from theuppermost tooth bemg more spreading than the others; teeth 5,generally not spinous-pomted. Corolla subunilabiate; tube rathershort; upper lip very short, slit do^v^l to the calyx tube; lower lip3-lobed, the middle lobe larger than the others, and often notched:from the splitting of the upper lip its segments appear to belong to thelower lip, which thus seems to have 5 lobes instead of 3. Stamens 4;filaments subparallel, protruded through the slit in the upper lip;anther-cells joined at the apex, and diverging nearly in a straight line,opening by a longitudmal slit common to both.
