Entrance to Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Gretna, Louisiana 2021

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Entrance to Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, founded in 1857 in Gretna, a small, mostly working-class city in Jefferson Parish on the West Bank, or west side, of the Mississippi River, near New Orleans. (Louisiana calls its counties "parishes."). St. Joseph’s is the “Mother Church” of fourteen area Catholic parishes. Even though it is on the West Bank, Gretna lies east of nearby New Orleans, the anomaly owing to the serpentine twists of the river.
