English: A local woman reads a calendar that highlights Exercise Balikatan 2012 (BK12) passed out by Armed Forces of the Philippines Army soldiers and United States military service members at Santa Cruz Elementary School, April 24, 2012. BK12 is an annual bilateral training exercise that works to build Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. military joint planning, contingency operations and humanitarian assistance capabilities. BK12 consists of three events which include a series of humanitarian civic assistance projects that began in March 2012, a natural disaster response command post exercise and a series of field training exercises which all build joint interoperability between Philippine and U.S. military members. |
