Summary
[edit]DescriptionExposed edge stones of buried Causeway - geograph.org.uk - 623492.jpg |
English: Exposed edge stones of buried Causeway This mostly overgrown causeway continues from the Ramsden Road in the watergrove valley, around Rough Hill to meet Foul Clough Road / Inchfield Road from Walsden. An inappropriate drainage "improvement" has exposed the causeway edge to the elements along a 100m section, causing the loss of some of the edging stones. The causeway would have been used to transport coal and other goods by packhorse or horsecart between Lancs and Yorks. |
