Description

The second Fairy Delta 2 (Serial No. WG777) at the Royal air Force Museum, Cosford.

The Fairey Delta 2 was a research aircraft to investigate transonic and supersonic flight, the first aircraft (S/n WG774) set a new world air speed record of 1,132 MPH on 10th March 1956, becoming the first aircraft to exceed 1,000 MPH in level flight. WG774 was later re-built as the BAC 221 and used in the Concorde development program, it is now on display at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton.
