| Description |
English: Field gateway beside lane near Ailwood Farm. This gateway is unusual in that it has two long wooden bars which fit into slots in the gateposts. A similar design was formerly commonly used in the Pennines, although the slots for the stangs were not normally cut all the way through. See 488443. Most have been replaced with modern gates which are more convenient to use. |
