A screenshot of Marko de Haeck's "Codex De Vexillis" containing only simple text and a scan of an old piece of paper. It was uploaded to illustrate the source's bad presentation as an educational website.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This image is the top of a page from Marko de Haeck's "Codex De Vexillis", it only contains simple texts and titles short enough to be ineligible for copyright ©, furthermore the background is a scan on a "blank" piece of paper making it a 2D object PD-scan. This image was uploaded to illustrate the "you shouldn't judge a book by its cover" principle to this website, while it uses some unflattering terms like "Puke sects" (to refer to religions) and "Idiot monkeys" (to refer to human beings) and spells words with "-ese" as "-eze" (like an edgy teenager in the late 1990's would do so online), the content from this website is actually well-sourced in some cases, or at least adequately researched with the resources available to Sir Marko de Haeck and it is not unreasonable to assume that many contributors to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia dismissed this website simply by viewing this top part. Hence I uploaded it here as an illustration (with its educational value being rested in the fact that one would assume that such a website would not be a reliable source for educational content) to use in a larger research page concerning a flag that this website confirmed its existence of. The Vietnamese page from Marko de Haeck's "Codex De Vexillis" contains Wikimedia Commons' file "File:Emblem of Vietnam.svg" licensed under "{{PD-Vietnam}}".

Important notes:

The flags of Nam Kỳ and Bắc Kỳ created by Marko de Haeck are obviously derived from the Nguyễn Dynasty flag already on Wikimedia Commons and hence ineligible for further copyright. Furthermore, Marko de Haeck claims that all images on his website may be freely used by anyone, but authorship claims on his website are often dubious.

Image sources listed by Marko de Haeck include:

Author Marko de Haeck.

Licensing[edit]
