esigned for the organ loftof the Cathedral, but for years cast aside tomake room for some celebration of royalty, andare now shown in the Cathedral Museum. Donatello stands forth as sculptor for sculp-ture s sake—and not as a decorator of architec-ture. He revived the classic idea of the art, andthe artists of Florence have erected as a memo-rial his bust before the door of his workshop,which was not far from the Duomo. Only fourteen years younger than Donatellowas Luca della Robbia. He also executed inmarble-relief a series of Singing and DancingBoys and Angels for the organ-loft of theDuomo. They, with Donatellos Cantoria,are to be seen in the Duomo Museum, and wenotice that Donatellos express strength, butLucas express grace and vitality. Luca took as his text for this work the Can-toria, the 150th Psalm, which he illustrated inhis frieze of ten panels: Praise ye the Lord in His holy places;praise ye Him in the firmament of His power.
