Description
English: The video is a documentation of the folk instruments of the communities like the Bengalis, Santhals, Oraons, Mundas, Rajbanghis, Rawas, Nepalese and Mech people of West Bengal. The folk instruments that are showcased in the video include the dhamsha, a large kettle drum used in Chhau performance along with the dhol, shehnai, trumpet, flute and keyboard; the shehnai and roshan chouki (concert of pipes and small drums); dhol; dugi (small kettle drum) used in Bai dance; madal (tambour drum) used in Khemta dance; sri-khol (tom-tom) which is used for Kirtan; the madan-bheri which is usually accompanied by the dhak; ektara which along with the dugi accompanies a Baul singer; khamak; duri; aarbashi; sarinda; dotara used in Bhawaia performance; khanjira; sharaj, mukhabashi used in ballads like the Bishora and Hushan; damphu; kangling; dhangro; gabuk; tamco; narasinga; jhamta hem a kind of drum used in the Rabha war dance among others.
