Summary[edit]
DescriptionFootpath along Berry Lane, Twyford - geograph.org.uk - 449614.jpg |
English: Footpath along Berry Lane, Twyford Berry Lane leads from Berry Bridge over the River Itchen up to Church Lane in Twyford. Lying in the nettles to the right of the path are a pair of sarsen stones, possibly connected with the "druidical temple" that tradition says once occupied a site close to the church. Twelve sarsen stones lay at the foundation of the tower of the original Norman church, and were re-positioned and re-used when the new church (visible above the trees in this photo) was built. |
