Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Former Great Western Railway factory and trees, Swindon The trees are silver birches. They hide the presence of the main London to the west of England railway. The building at the left is part of the famous Great Western Railway factory, conceived by I K Brunel in the 19th century and closed in the mid 1980s by economic reality. Most of this area of the works has been converted to other uses with the major presence of a fine designer outlet village, a museum, the National Trust and English Heritage. This building, once known as 'J' Shop, formerly used as an iron foundry, however is, for the moment, unused and semi-derelict.
