Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Former Wakerley & Barrowden station
The appearance of the site has changed slightly since Alan Murray-Rust's picture SP9599 : Wakerley and Barrowden Station. The former station buildings are now used as holiday accommodation. Back in 1964 I travelled through this station on the 13:12 train from March to Birmingham (New Street) on a journey from Tonbridge to Leeds over routes most of which no longer exist. This particular train carried a total pay-load of fewer than a dozen passengers between March - Rugby, which goes to show that the Beeching cuts were not as unnecessary as some thought at the time and since.
