Description
English: Caption: Fort McMurray, Alberta. 1965. Fort McMurray, known as the 'port of the North and the doorway to the Arctic' is a boom town in the bush, because of the recent discovery of surrounding oil sands. The industrial revolution coming to the bush town has left its impact on the bush peoples. Job opportunities are abundant. Some illiterate Indians, for example, are earning up to $600 a month with the oil extractors.
