| Description |
English: Foss Islands development This area, and particularly behind the camera used to be part of the refuse site in York and is now undergoing extensive redevelopment to hold a superstore. This image shows some of the road alterations. Straight ahead, behind the street lamp, the remains of a railway bridge can be seen, this used to carry the road over the sustrans route. The cycle route now has many branches being built at this point, the routes straight ahead towards the gasometer go through Heworth and terminate at the Nestle factory. The routes going to the left (on both sides of the road) head towards Foss Islands and the city centre. To the right the old railway line goes as far as Osbaldwick (sustrans route 66). Behind routes run into the new retail site but these are still under construction. |
