Description
English: Funeral procession for Red Cross nurse, Western Front, during World War I. This is one of three photographs attributed to Tom Aitken which show the funeral of a British Red Cross nurse who died during a German air raid on a hospital. The funeral procession is shown walking down a road, with the coffin on a wheeled cart pulled by two soldiers. Nurses follow behind.

The kilted Scottish soldier at the front appears to be a bugler as the instrument can just be seen at his right side in two of the photographs.
