| Description |
English: Gate, wall and sheepfold below Providence mine Looking along the wall that marks the divide between the cultivated land to the left and the open fell to the right. The small enclosure to the left is clearly being used as a sheepfold, however, the 1857 O.S map records it as an 'Old Smithy'. Presumably that function was associated with the Providence lead mine, which is above it on the fell. Part of one of the spoil heaps from the mine can be seen on the right. |
