d, of WaterValley, Miss., have authorized the announcementthat they will give $20,000 to erect a memorial buildingfor Mississippi College in memory of the departedhead of that noble family. Capt. Jennings was oneof the best men who ever lived in any state and his familyare showing their own nobility and their high appreciationof him in making this splendid donation to so worthy a cause.Dr. Wallace Buttrick, of the General Education Boardof New York City, came to Clinton just before the close ofthe session to confer with the President in reference to a dona-tion from that board. It was finally agreed that this boardwould give $25,000 for the erection of a science buildingat the College on condition that other friends of the Collegewould raise $75,000 for other buildings. No one who knowsthe situation will doubt for a moment that the $75,000 willbe raised. This means that within the next five years newbuildings costing $120,000 will adorn the campus of this rapidlyadvancing institution.
