Description
English: German Luftwaffe Panavia Tornado fighter-bomber aircraft and U.S. Air Force General Dynamics F-16C Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft prepare to take off from Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska (USA), for a training mission during Exercise COOPERATIVE COPE THUNDER, 18 July 2004. This 15-day exercise simulated wartime combat conditions so that military personnel from 12-nations could sharpen their air fighting skills, exchange air operational tactics, and build closer relations with each other.

Visible aircraft are (l-r):

  • a USAF Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker;
  • three U.S. Navy Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet of Strike fighter Squadron 41 "Black Aces";
  • five Indien Air Force SEPECAT Jaguar of 14th Squadron;
  • nine Royal Air Force Panavia Tornado GR.4;
  • nine Luftwaffe Tornado of Jagedbombergeschwader 33 and Aufklärungsgeschwader 52;
  • ten (ca) USAF General Dynamics F-16C Fighting Falcon;
  • two Luftwaffe Tornados and six USAF F-16s taxiing.
