Der Ausdruck Contouche ist auch in ausländischeModen übergegangen und namentlich im Polnischen festgeworden, als die Kontusch derNationaltracht, ein feines, prächtiges Obergewand. In Frankreich hat die Beliebtheitdes neuen Kostümstücks zu weiteren Variationen geführt, man schlägt die Ärmel amEllbogen über den unteren um, man hakt die Contouche auf der Brust zu, anstatt siezu binden, schließt sie mehr oder minder fest an das Kleid an und gibt ihr sodoch wieder vorne eine Taillenform. Eine häusliche kürzere Contouche erhält denhübschen Namen Pet-en-lair. — Außer der Contouche werden im Chiffone dannnoch verschiedene Jacken und Umhänge oder Tücher getragen. Die Typen i—11 sind sämtlich Gemälden oder Zeichnungen Watteaus, der 1721als Sechsunddreißigjähriger starb, entnommen. 223.
