Description
English: Gibbet Hill, looking North into the rolling Surrey countryside. Near to this spot an unknown sailor was murdered on September 27, 1786. The three men convicted of his murder were hanged and were afterwards hung in chains here on the 7th of April 1787. Their bodies were never taken down, until their skeletons fell to the ground during a violent storm 3 years later
