[edit]DescriptionGlan y Pwll level crossing (disused) (geograph 6549338).jpg |
English: Glan y Pwll level crossing (disused) Looking west along the derelict Ffestiniog Railway from a footbridge (since removed) carrying a path to the nearby school. On the right, behind the houses, the derelict roofless loco shed can be seen: SH6946 : Derelict locomotive shed, Glan y Pwll. A view looking east from the footbridge is at: SH6946 : The derelict Ffestiniog Railway's approach to Blaenau It is a long time since any regular trains ran on this track: 15th September 1939 for passenger trains, 1st August 1946 for slate trains. In the very early days of the preservation society (1955/56) a few engineering trains managed to get this far from Portmadoc to reclaim materials. It will be another 14 years before regular passenger traffic to Blaenau Ffestiniog resumes on 25th May 1982. |
