Summary
[edit]DescriptionGlenforsa airstrip 2007 (geograph 3152500).jpg |
English: Glenforsa airstrip 2007. Glenforsa Airfield was built by the Royal Engineers (15 Field Park Squadron, 38 Engineer Regiment) between May and August 1965.
It was built to complement the small cottage hospital in Salen, its main purpose was to act as Mull's only fixed-wing air ambulance evacuation facility. Since its inception, David Howitt and his family, who then owned the adjacent Glenforsa Hotel, have operated it first of all for the Argyll County Council, then the Strathclyde Regional Council, and at present, the Roads Department of the Argyll & Bute Council. |
