Summary[edit]

Description
English: Glossop Road, Broomhill. This row of shops, seen from its junction with Ashgate Road, has already been described in 990196 and 990622

In 1925, from left to right was Harold Daws - insurance agent, a Miss Honor Franks used the upstairs as milliner, George F Leighton - chemist and dentist, Harry Percy Winfield - stationer, Walter Wands - florist, Miss Bertha Holmes - confectioner, Richard S.S. Elliott - butcher, John William Kesteven - grocer, Fredrick Mifflan - confectioner, a Charles Hadwin used the upstairs and he was a chauffeur and lastly, Ernest Osbourne - taxi cab proprietor, who may have employed Charles Hadwin. John Wm Kesteven, the grocer, would probably have had regular custom from Bertha Holmes and Fredrick Mifflan, who were both confectioners. The first building down Ashgate Road, is St Mark's Church Hall. The church is about 500yds east of here.

The road sign denotes that the junction is with the A57, the road to Manchester.
