English: Gravestone of Helen Jenkins Unusual gravestone in St Peter's churchyard, placed with a view out over the creek. The inscription reads (in part), "Helen Jenkins . Journalist Sailor".
Helen Jenkins, always known as Lel - hence the "Lella in Memoriam" on the gravestone - graduated from the University of Keele and then returned to south Wales to complete her journalistic training. She went on to join the BBC, becoming an editor and producer on a number of news-based programmes. She died in her early 50s of breast cancer. |
