Summary[edit]
DescriptionGuantanamo Troop Farewell 110409-N-AT101-291.jpg |
English: Members of the Joint Task Force Guantanamo and Naval Station community wave good-bye to colleagues, friends and family members as they board the boat to leave at the base ferry landing, April 11. Guantanamo residents practice a long-standing tradition of jumping off the pier into the water sometimes in full military uniform to honor those friends and fellow service members who completed their tours on the Caribbean island. JTF Guantanamo provides safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detainees, including those convicted by military commission and those ordered released by a court. The JTF conducts intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination for the protection of detainees and personnel working in JTF Guantanamo facilities and in support of the War on Terror. JTF Guantanamo provides support to the Office of military Commissions, to law enforcement and to war crimes investigations. The JTF conducts planning for and, on order, responds to Caribbean mass migration operations. |
