HMS "Palliser" blir liggende til onsdag

HMS "Palliser", britisk fregatt som til hverdags er i tjeneste som fiskerioppsynsskip, forlot farvannene utenfor Skottland i forrige uke for å gjøre en sommerlig avstikker til fredelige Trondheim. Lørdag morgen klappet fartøyet til Pir II med 10 offiserer og 123 menige ombord. Kort etter var en del av gastene i land for å gjøre de første sonderinger. Båten blir liggende til onsdag i denne uken. Lørdag ettermiddag var fregattens sjef, orlogskaptein J. C. Q. Johnson, vert ved en offisiell mottagelse ombord.

HMS "Palliser" er bygget i 1956 og er utsyrt med anti-ubåtvåpen. Skipet har for det meste gjort tjeneste utenfor Norges og Islands kyster. Sitt navn har fregatten fått etter en berømt britisk sjøhelt, admiral Palliser.
