Description
English: A view looking northwest across the harbour from the foreshore in front of the settlement of Godhavn. HMS Phoenix (1832), a converted screw sloop, is at anchor in the foreground, with the storeship HMS Diligence (1814) in the background. Both ships, with HMS Talbot (1824) anchored at Godhavn [referred to as Lievely in Phoenix's log] on 18 June 1854 in order to transfer coal and stores, while on their way northward to supply the 'Franklin' search expedition under Captain Sir Edward Belcher in the Canadian archipelago. The three ships departed at 4.30pm on 5 July, with Diligence in ballast returning to England.
