Summary
[edit]DescriptionHeath Farm gardens - geograph.org.uk - 488846.jpg |
English: Heath Farm gardens The garden at Heathfarm Livermere, with trees planted between about 1790 and 1820 by Josiah Rodwell and his family. Josiah's son John Medows Rodwell went onto to become a Vicar, but as a young man he was very interested in botany. He corresponded with the Reverend William Kirby of Barham, who was also a great botanist and entomologist.
J M Rodwell studied under Philip Henslow, Darwin's tutor at Gonville and Cais at Cambridge during the 1840's. These old trees in this garden suggest that the family was very interested in botany and were collecting exotic varieties by the early 19th century. |
