Description
English: Historic connections According to the OS Explorer Map 122 this is the end point of the Monarch's Way, a long distance recreational path of 615 miles from Worcester to Shoreham following the escape route of Charles II after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester on 3/9/1651. Charles boarded the coal brig "Surprise" at a creek (now Shoreham Harbour) which landed at Fecamp, Normandy on 16/10/1651. www.monarchsway.50megs.com
