THE AURAND FAMILY. (From a photograph taken in 1Q05.) Caroline Aiirand, aged 77 j^ears; Samuel F. Aurand, aged 5(5 j^ears;Ambrose^ W. Aurand, aged 28 years, and Alton W. Aurand, agod 4 years. The neighbors in acommunity hadmany different methods of amuse-ment. In the fall they had apple-butter parties; a couple would stir ortake care of the kettle, the otherswould pair and slice apples, andwhen the applebutter was done theywould lick the kettle. Duringhaymaking they often had moon- light mowing parties to mow grass.About ten oclock they had a goodsupper and something to drink.They enjoyed work. There was born to this union two children. Sarah .lane and Banks, the latter died in child-hood.
