| Description |
English: Hovercraft The transport group Stagecoach and various partners, including the Scottish Executive, are testing a hi-tech130-passenger hovercraft on a route across the Forth between Kirkcaldy and Portobello. The test is for a two week period. A 28-metre BHT130 hovercraft, manufactured by Isle of Wight-based Hoverwork Limited and incorporating the latest diesel engine technology, is being used for the trial. The crossing time is around 20 minutes and the craft, with normal operating speeds of approximately 35 knots, is able to run in waves of up to two metres. This picture shows the 15:30 service from Portobello on its approach to Kirkcaldy. The Bass Rock and Berwick Law are visible in the distance. |
