hadlearned in manual training school how to use simpletools, so I bought also a saw, plane, shaving knife,brace and set of bits, and a small vise. Then outof an old sewing machine stand I made a workbench, and a light corner of the basement becamemy shop. I made those yeast foam boxes intowren houses, and out of the cocoa box I made a blue-bird house. The boys mother had told me thathis manual training teacher was a lady, and thatshe was just as good as a man, so I felt quiteproud of my new fancy work. The house for bluebirds and one for wrens were put 20 HOW TO HAVE BIRD NEIGHBORS up in trees. The other wren house was mountedon a post above the grape arbor. But it did notstay there long, for I soon found that a grape arboris no place for a bird house. Can you guess whynot.?
