| Description |
English: Ilex Mill, Rawtenstall Adaptively reused textile mill. The very furthest block looks new and has balconies - aaargh! The closer sections are original and quite nicely done. The chimney is a gorgeous survivor and would have been a sad loss. Keeping these potent symbols is not a light undertaking as they need lifelong care and bits falling off can have major consequences. An internal beam engine house is visible just right of the terraced houses. This would have been a gear drive set-up. |
