The Feast of the Bucentoro The large canal is covered with magnificent gondolas and elegantboats, full with people dressed in splendid costumes, the livelycolours of which are reflected on the dark water of the canal. Thepalaces on the opposite bank swarm with people at each windowand even on the roofs. The Bucentoro is on the left; from a platform,the Doge is going to throw his ring into the water, symbolizing themarriage of Venice with the Adriatic. Canvas, 4G 1/2 in. by G5 in.
