Text Appearing Before Image: s brother, whowas acting as agent for him, rode out to meet us and escortedus to his house, a fine solid stone building dommating aUthe small houses. The tops of the walls were covered withgorse and juniper, rather suggestive of Christmas decorations.Tents were pitched for us in a grass paddock close to a groveof wiUows. Our host accompanied us to the villageof Rongkong, one of the villages belonging to his brother, and here he said good-bye to us. The days march wasuninteresting. We followed along the left bank of theYaru past well-irrigated barley fields, for there was anyamount of water here, until the valley narrowed and thesides came down steeper, when it became covered withgorse bushes.
