English: India Empowered' is a tribute to the privatisation of electricity generation in India. Identifying the private sector as productive, efficient and transparent, the film presents a series of private players in contemporary India who have tried to ensure that power deficiency is met. Hailing the Electricity Act 2003 as a seminal legislation that allows private power generation as well as access of private players to the state owned transmission and distribution network, the film looks at the various aspects that go into ensuring that electricity reaches homes. The film also touches on the situation of renewable resources and presents a series of private players who are determined to use renewable resources like the solar and wind energy to produce electricity |
