For two years he was on a Texasranch, and returning to Richmond in 1907he took up fire insurance and in 1908 alsolife insurance, and has gradually broad-ened his work to that of a life insurancespecialist. In 1913 he married Ada Ebenback,daughter of George H. and Lydia Eben-back of Richmond. They have one daugh-ter, Ruth Ann, born in 1917. He resigned the office Jan-uary 1, 1918, to accept the position ofchief of police of the Indianapolis PoliceDepartment.
