  • Significance: The MESCO Building, a mid-18th century Italianate-style rowhouse renovated in 1921, is an early example of facade preservation in Washington, D.C. The building housed M.E. Swing Company, a coffee roasting concern, and its Polly Trent candy factory for most of the 20th century. The MESCO Building contributes to the Pennsylvania Avenue National Historic Site.
