International Women's Day (IWD), which falls on 8 March every year, is an event celebrated worldwide to raise awareness of the injustices still faced by women today. To mark this year's IWD, the Presiding Officer, Dame Rosemary Butler AM hosted an exciting event for girls aged 15-18 on Monday 7 March in Siambr Hywel. The event aimed to inspire girls to consider their future career plans, and explore how young women can make a difference in the world, by developing their leadership skills and taking an active role in their schools and communities. On Tuesday 8 March, the Presiding Officer hosted the annual Women Making a Difference's Wales Women's Summit at the Pierhead, in partnership with Chwarae Teg and Oxfam. The day-long conference focused on various themes, including how to best tackle the barriers that women face in the workplace. Later that evening, the Presiding Officer hosted a reception in the Senedd to celebrate the achievements of the Women in Public Life campaign, and to consider what remains to be done in the fight against gender inequality. Mae Diwrnod Rhyngwladol y Menywod, ar 8 Mawrth bob blwyddyn, yn ddigwyddiad a gaiff ei ddathlu ledled y byd i godi ymwybyddiaeth o'r anghyfiawnder y mae menywod yn parhau i'w wynebu heddiw. I nodi Diwrnod Rhyngwladol y Menywod eleni, wnaeth y Llywydd, Y Fonesig Rosemary Butler AC cynnal digwyddiad cyffrous ar gyfer merched rhwng 15 a 18 mlwydd oed, ddydd Llun 7 Mawrth yn Siambr Hywel. Nod y digwyddiad oess i ysbrydoli merched i ystyried eu cynlluniau gyrfa yn y dyfodol, ac i edrych yn fanwl ar sut y gall merched ifanc wneud gwahaniaeth yn y byd, drwy ddatblygu eu sgiliau arwain, a chymryd rhan weithredol yn eu hysgolion a'u cymunedau. Ddydd Mawrth 8 Mawrth, wnaeth y Llywydd croesawu Uwchgynhadledd Menywod Cymru flynyddol Menywod yn Gwneud Gwahaniaeth, yn y Pierhead, mewn partneriaeth â Chwarae Teg ac Oxfam. Roedd y gynhadledd undydd yn canolbwyntio ar themâu amrywiol, gan gynnwys y ffordd orau o fynd i'r afael â rhwystrau y mae menywod yn eu hwynebu yn y gweithle. Yn ddiweddarach y noson honno, wnaeth y Llywydd cynnal derbyniad yn y Senedd i ddathlu llwyddiannau'r ymgyrch Menywod mewn Bywyd Cyhoeddus, ac i ystyried beth sydd i'w wneud o hyd yn y frwydr yn erbyn anghydraddoldeb rhwng y rhywiau.
