Notes
  • Significance: This building is important to the historical development of mining activities near Jenkins, Kentucky because of its role in supplying electrical power to the surrounding mines operated by the Consolidated Coal Company, builders of the power plant. Additionally, it is significant for its association with the development of the City of Jenkins because the building was subsequently adaptively reused to house the community water treatment facility from 1938 to 1987. It is architecturally significant as an example of industrial architecture, a style not found on any other buildings.
  • Survey number: HABS KY-287
  • Building/structure dates: 1913 Initial Construction
  • Building/structure dates: 1938 Subsequent Work
