Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This photograph of Upper Arlington resident John Wesley Pontius accompanied an article about his return home after six months of military service in Europe during World War I. Mr. Pontius worked with the American Expeditionary Forces in the United Kingdom, and as the Associate Chief Secretary of the Y.M.C.A. his job took him to Scotland, England, France and Italy. While on the front line in France he met several soldiers from the Columbus, Ohio area including Huntley Dupre, Don Demorest and Paul M. Nash. This article introduced Mr. Pontius and announced that he would be writing articles for the Norwester magazine over the next few months. Mr. Pontius, his wife, Hazel (Dolin), and their daughter, Jean, lived at 1776 Upper Chelsea Road.
