Dr. VanZwaluwenburg also had accumulated avast amount of data along other roent-genological lines, much of which he didnot consider quite ready for publication.It is hoped his study of this materialwill not be wholly lost. Van, as he was usually called byhis associates, was born in 1874 inOttawa County, Michigan, of Dutch-American parentage. He graduatedfrom Hope College, Holland, Michi-gan, and after teaching chemistry therefor one year entered the University ofMichigan and received from there thedegree of Bachelor of Science in 1 898.The next five years he devoted to chemi- an z^waiuwenburg- Rollin H. The two years following hisgraduation he was an assistant to theChair of Internal Medicine at the Uni-versity of Michigan and then became aninstructor in that subject. His previoustraining eminently fitted him for thework of roentgenology, in which he soonbecame interested. In 1913 he heldthe position of Associate Professor inthat subject, and in 191 7 he was madeProfessor of Roentgenology of the emonal Medical School ofthe University ofMichigan. He was avalued member of theAmerican RoentgenRay Society and ofThe RadiologicalSociety of NorthAmerica. He is survived byhis widow, a son anda daughter, to whomwe express our sym-pathy in their greatand irreparable loss.
