Conditions for 1 his type of experi-ment are much more favorable in thedog than in the human diabetic subject—but even in clinical cases there issome evidence that a diabetic processmay be influenced by direct radiationthough treatment is not advised at pres-ent unless all other means are of noavail in diabetic coma. The differences that may be deter-mined in the serum when different organgroups are rayed for different timeperiods were also a subject of investi-gation. The hepatic, the splenic andthe lower abdominal regions were se-lected for this. The leukocytosis fol-lowing such regional irradiation varied,giving a sharp but transient rise in thehepatic area, a step-like rise in the in-testinal area; in the splenic area adiminution of the white count wasmanifest. Coagulation changes fol-lowed after irradiation of all the areasexposed.
