Српски / srpski: Jovan Gavrilović (1796-1877) je bio istoričar i političar. Bavio se proučavanjem srpske istorije, prikupljao izvore o Prvom srpskom ustanku. Bio je blizak prijatelj Vuka Stefanovića Karadžića, i zalagao se za njegove promene književnog jezika. Dao je veliki doprinos razvoju prosvete u Srbiji i modernom organizovanju srpske države. Obavljao je različite cenjene visoke državne poslove: sekretar Velikog suda, direktor kneževske kancelarije, ministar finansija, član Državnog saveta, upravitelj trgovačke škole, predsednik Srpskog učenog društva, treći namesnik Milana Obrenovića posle smrti Mihaila Obrenovića.
English: Jovan Gavrilović (1796-1877) was a historian and politician. He studied Serbian history, collected sources on the First Serbian Uprising. He was a close friend of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, and advocated for his changes in literary language. He made a great contribution to the development of education in Serbia and the modern organization of the Serbian state. He performed various esteemed high state jobs: secretary of the Grand Court, director of the prince's office, minister of finance, member of the State Council, manager of a trade school, president of the Serbian Academic Society, third deputy Milan Obrenović after the death of Mikhail Obrenović.
