DescriptionJulian Smith to Harriotte Smith Letter, 14 November 1943, Page 1 of 2 (6852366633).jpg |
General Julian C. Smith wrote this letter to his wife, Harriotte "Happy" Smith while he was Commanding General of the 2d Marine Division. "At Sea Nov. 14 Sweetheart: Just another little note to tell you how much I love you. You are the best wife any man ever had. If it were not for you I wouldn't be here in Command of this division. What ever I have done or will do in the future will be because you helped me and inspired me when I was sick and discouraged. You are entitled to the big share of any success I have achieved or may achieve." From the Julian C. Smith Collection (COLL/202) at the Marine Corps Archives and Special Collections OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
