Description
Svenska: Ring av guld, nedre halvan med rundad utsida, täckt med beslagsornamentik av svart emalj och guld. Övre halvan med fyrkantig utsida, i mitten fattat en pyramidformig, ljus rökkvarts(?), slät fattning av guld, undersidan stympat pyramidformig med rundade sidor, groteskornamentik av svart emalj och guld.
Stenen flankerad av sex taffelslipade bergkristaller i slät guldfattning, kanterna med groteskornamentik av svart emalj och guld.
Karl IX:s kröning i Uppsala domkyrka var sista gången ring fanns med bland regalierna. Omnämns först på 1700-talets senare del som Karl IX:s. 1751: tilförende hört till Riksregalierna.
1640 - Skattkammarinventariet: "Een stor Swensk diamant Ring vthij sitt eghit Foderal, wegher 3 C(ronor) 3 (ort).
Ruprecht Miller 1606 - Tuå Ringher huardera medh enn stoor demannt författat.
I Groots ordenskedja finns samma emalj och utsparade guldmönster. Topas och bergkristall användes ofta i KIX:s arbeten.
1616 gör guldsmeden Johan Pedherson fodral till Riksäpplet, Spiran, Ringen och Hornet - äpplets och ringens fodral är bevarade - fodralet hjälper till att identifiera ringen som Karl IX:s.
Vid en jämförelses med Karl IX begravningskrona från 1611 i Strängnäs domkyrka är Antonij Groot d.ä. sannolikt den som har tillverkat kröningsringen.
