Nor do they know thatthe great stretch of three dimension wirewalls, which keep them in, are also forthe purpose of keeping out cruel enemiesof their own kind who would prey uponthem, from the belligerent sparrows,which are not much larger than thecanaries themselves, to the big hawkswhich circle far up into the sky. There are many of these wire houses,because feathered folk dont know muchmore about brotherly love than Humansand, if they were all put into a singledomicile-no matter how large-theywould scold and fight and even kill oneanother over something to eat, a placein the sun, a choice apartment in someparticular tree or, perhaps, jealousyabout a lady bird. Altogether they are very much likepeople in their habits, emotions and adts.One may learn a great deal in the Aviary. In the first place, it is a lovely spot,
